Xero Enhances JAX AI Agent to Increase Automation for Small Businesses

Xero has announced an expansion of its artificial intelligence-driven financial superagent, JAX, aimed at enhancing automation and actionable insights for small businesses and accountants. The updated JAX, built on Xero’s agentic platform, is designed to streamline business operations by automating routine tasks and workflows, learning business-specific processes, and delivering insights to aid decision-making. Diya Jolly, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Xero, described this latest iteration as foundational for the future of accounting. JAX continuously learns, adapts, and acts to meet the evolving needs of business owners, allowing customers to focus on growth, relationships, and high-value decisions. This evolution represents a significant step towards the future of work in the accounting industry, with Xero excited to keep expanding its AI offerings.

Xero aims for JAX to unify the user experience through one intelligent interface, learning and adapting to the operational rhythms of each business while replacing the need for multiple disconnected tools. One of JAX’s core features is the automation of routine tasks, such as bank reconciliations and data entry, which helps customers save time and maintain compliance with accounting standards. Moving away from static reporting, JAX combines insights from across Xero’s platform and connected applications, leveraging deep research capabilities in collaboration with OpenAI. This approach delivers proactive recommendations and unified business intelligence, supporting customers in exploring their financial data and making informed choices. Built with security and privacy in mind, JAX includes the JAX Assure control system to reduce inaccuracies and highlight issues in financial data, acting as a round-the-clock assistant for businesses and accountants.
