Workiva Introduces Agentic AI and Automation to Enhance CFO Efficiency
Workiva has expanded its intelligent platform by integrating new agentic AI capabilities, unified data automation, and an updated controls experience, specifically targeting finance, governance, risk, and sustainability functions. These enhancements are designed to alleviate the increasing pressures faced by Chief Financial Officers and their teams, particularly in light of economic uncertainty, shifting regulatory requirements, and operational complexity. Recent research indicates that nearly two-thirds of practitioners globally report insufficient access to high-quality data and governance, which poses ongoing risks of costly errors and missed opportunities for improved performance. By embedding agentic AI directly into key workflows, Workiva aims to automate processes identified as bottlenecks, enabling continuous insights within a secure environment.
The latest platform expansion introduces agentic AI within Intelligent Finance, Intelligent GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance), and Intelligent Sustainability features. These integrations streamline reporting and analytics tasks while enhancing data governance frameworks. David Haila, Chief Technology Officer at Workiva, emphasises that CFOs now bear greater responsibilities, necessitating technology that is specialised, secure, and designed for high-stakes decisions. With agentic AI, users can anticipate shorter reporting cycles, allowing them to dedicate more time to planning and strategic initiatives. The automation of manual processes is intended to boost both efficiency and confidence in business information through secure connections to governed datasets and collaborative workflows.
Organisations such as PwC, Cognizant, StoneX, McCormick, and Playa Hotels & Resorts have adopted Workiva’s AI-powered platform to accelerate reporting, enhance cross-functional collaboration, and ensure reliability in both financial and sustainability data. Users have reported significant improvements since implementing the new platform capabilities. Deepa Rao, Sustainability Governance Lead at Cognizant, noted that she has saved 40 per cent of her time with Workiva’s AI capabilities, allowing her to focus on more strategic, high-value projects. This shift has not only made her day easier but has also broadened her impact and enabled her to take on responsibilities she never imagined before. Natalie Denman, Audit Supervisor at Flowserve, remarked that Workiva AI instills confidence to move quickly without compromising trust, thereby accelerating narrative development and streamlining processes.
