Windows 11 Cumulative Updates KB5063878 and KB5063875 Now Available: Enhance Your System’s Performance and Security
Microsoft has released cumulative updates KB5063878 and KB5063875 for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 23H2, respectively, to address security vulnerabilities and various issues. These updates are mandatory as they include the August 2025 Patch Tuesday security patches for vulnerabilities identified in previous months. Users can install the updates by navigating to Start > Settings > Windows Update and selecting ‘Check for Updates.’ Alternatively, they can manually download and install the updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog. For those using Windows 11 Enterprise or Windows Server with Hotpatch, the update KB5064010 will be available, featuring the same fixes but with a different build number of 26100.4851. After installation, the build number for Windows 11 24H2 will change to 26100.4946, while 23H2 will be updated to 226×1.5768. Microsoft has also indicated that support for Windows 11 23H2 will end on November 11, 2025, after which users will either be upgraded to 24H2 or cease receiving updates.
The updates introduce several improvements, including new AI features in Europe and enhancements to the Settings app, which now displays a Search box at the top centre for easier navigation. Fixes have been implemented to resolve issues where the Settings window may become unresponsive when the lid is closed and reopened, as well as problems saving Wi-Fi network credentials. Additionally, as part of the Windows Resiliency Initiative announced at Ignite 2024, a new Quick Machine Recovery feature has been introduced. This feature automatically detects and resolves widespread issues using the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), minimising downtime and eliminating the need for manual fixes. Furthermore, a more streamlined interface has been designed for unexpected restarts, aligning with Windows 11’s visual style and providing a clearer layout for users.
