Revise my OpenAI to address GPT-5 concerns and increase rate limits for paid users in response to feedback, enhancing SEO.
OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, has faced criticism for overpromising on the capabilities of GPT-5, as real-world results have proven to be underwhelming. While BleepingComputer’s tests indicate that GPT-5 excels in coding and is significantly faster than previous models, it struggles with creativity in writing and often fails to utilise its new reasoning capabilities when users expect it to. Additionally, GPT-5 has been observed to produce shorter content than requested, leading some to speculate that it may be throttling token output to reduce costs. Altman attributed these issues to a bug, stating, “Yesterday, the autoswitcher broke and was out of commission for a chunk of the day, and the result was GPT-5 seemed way dumber.”
In response to these concerns, OpenAI plans to implement updates that may enhance GPT-5’s performance. Altman announced that the rate limits for GPT Plus users would be doubled, although this change will take a few days to roll out. He also mentioned that users would have the option to continue using the older model, 4o, while OpenAI monitors usage. Furthermore, a new toggle is being tested to ensure GPT-5 employs its reasoning capabilities more effectively. Altman assured users that improvements would be made to the user interface for better transparency regarding which model is responding to queries. As GPT-5 continues to roll out for both paid and free users, OpenAI is also working on restoring legacy models for Plus customers.
