OneNote Introduces ‘Paste Text Only’ Feature for Windows and Mac Users

OneNote is a robust note-taking application, yet it has lacked certain features that users desire. One such feature, ‘Paste as Text Only,’ is finally being introduced. Microsoft recently announced that it is testing the ability to paste text in a plain format, eliminating the retention of formatting such as colours, fonts, and text styling when content is copied from web pages or other applications. While this formatting retention may suit some users, others prefer a cleaner, unformatted text experience.

To utilise the new ‘Paste as Text Only’ feature in OneNote, users can follow a few simple steps. They should open a new or existing notebook in OneNote and copy text from any source. After placing the cursor in the desired location within OneNote, users can right-click and select Paste Options > Keep Text Only, or navigate to the Home tab and select Paste > Paste Options > Keep Text Only. Additionally, keyboard shortcuts can be employed: Ctrl + Shift + V on Windows or Command + Shift + V on Mac. This feature is rolling out with OneNote for Windows version 2508 (Build 19101.10000) or later and Mac Build 16.100 (25080335) or later.
