New Research Reveals Security Teams Overwhelmed by Intelligence Data
Having a firm understanding of threat intelligence is crucial for maintaining organisational security. However, many security specialists and teams struggle to keep pace with the overwhelming amount of threat data available, which leaves their organisations vulnerable to cyber attacks. According to Google’s Threat Intelligence Benchmark study, conducted by Forrester Consulting, 1,541 IT and security leaders were surveyed regarding their perspectives on optimising threat intelligence.
The findings reveal that over half of the respondents are concerned about the excessive number of threat intelligence feeds, with 61 per cent citing this issue. Additionally, 60 per cent of those polled reported a lack of skilled analysts as a significant challenge. Furthermore, 59 per cent of participants expressed difficulties in converting intelligence into actionable data and verifying the validity of potential threats. Nearly half of the respondents struggle to determine which intelligence is relevant in specific scenarios, while 44 per cent find the manual effort required to manage threat intelligence burdensome. Lastly, 37 per cent of respondents identified stale data as a concern.
