Naval Group Affirms ‘No Data Breach’ Following Allegations of Intrusion
A member of a well-known hacking forum has claimed responsibility for a significant data breach, providing details of the attack earlier this week and issuing a 72-hour deadline. The compromised data allegedly includes classified information related to submarines and frigates, network data, confidential messages, and technical documents spanning from 2006 to 2024. The hacker, known online as Neferpitou, asserted that they possess the source code of the combat management system utilised by French ballistic missile submarines. If this claim is accurate, it could have severe implications for the French defence industry. Neferpitou also shared a purported 13-gigabyte data sample as evidence of the breach.
In response to these allegations, Naval Group has denied any data compromise. The company stated that, in a global environment marked by increasing international, commercial, and informational tensions, it has become the target of a reputational attack linked to this alleged cyber incident. Naval Group emphasised the importance of protecting client data and has filed a complaint to investigate these claims further. They have initiated technical investigations in accordance with their cybersecurity protocols, enlisting the support of a team of cybersecurity experts to address the situation.
