Leading Supplier of Military and Commercial Aircraft Reportedly Targeted by Play Ransomware Attack

Jamco Aerospace, a New York-based engineering and fabrication firm, specialises in creating components for aerospace and aircraft manufacturers, including those used by the US and other governments. Recently, the company was listed on the ransomware site of Play Ransomware on Wednesday, 6 August, with a ransom payment deadline set for Sunday, 10 August. The ransomware group claims to have exfiltrated a range of sensitive data, including private and personal confidential information, client documents, budget details, payroll records, IDs, tax information, and financial data. However, the exact volume of stolen data has not been disclosed.

As the ransom deadline has passed, Play Ransomware announced that it has published a portion of the stolen data and threatened to release the remainder if Jamco Aerospace does not respond. To date, Jamco Aerospace has not publicly acknowledged the cyber attack, and Cyber Daily has been unable to verify the authenticity of the data released by the ransomware group. According to a quarterly report by cybersecurity firm Rapid7, Play Ransomware has established itself as one of the most notorious ransomware gangs, with 125 reported victims, nearly double that of the next largest group. Overall, the group has impacted approximately 900 organisations globally as of May 2025, as noted in a joint advisory from the US Critical Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA) and the FBI.
