Fortinet Enhances FortiRecon to Strengthen Proactive Cybersecurity Measures

Fortinet has significantly enhanced its FortiRecon platform, aligning it with the Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) framework to improve organisations’ capabilities in addressing evolving cybersecurity risks. The latest release features expanded internal attack surface monitoring, adversary-centric dark web intelligence, and security orchestration, all integrated into a unified system. This system is designed to help security teams proactively identify and prioritise exposures, validate risks, and accelerate response times. By adopting an attacker’s perspective in security assessment and response, these enhancements aim to reduce the likelihood and impact of security breaches. According to Gartner, organisations prioritising their security investments based on a continuous exposure management program will be three times less likely to suffer a breach by 2026.

The updated FortiRecon platform integrates with Fortinet’s artificial intelligence-driven Security Operations Centre (SOC) platform, covering all five pillars of the Gartner CTEM framework: scoping, discovery, prioritisation, validation, and mobilisation. This integration facilitates coordinated remediation between IT and security teams by centralising security operations. Nirav Shah, Senior Vice President of Products and Solutions at Fortinet, highlighted the challenges faced by security professionals, noting that they are often overwhelmed by growing attack surfaces and unprioritised alerts. The enhancements provide organisations with an attacker’s eye view of their internal and external exposures, supported by AI-powered threat intelligence from FortiGuard Labs, real-world validation, and automated response capabilities. Key improvements include continuous monitoring of digital attack surfaces and actionable threat intelligence from various sources, enabling security operations centres to accelerate breach detection and incident response.
