F5 Recognized as the Overall Leader in the 2025 KuppingerCole WAAP Report
F5 has been recognised as an overall leader in the 2025 KuppingerCole Leadership Compass Report for Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) solutions. The KuppingerCole report evaluates providers in the WAAP sector, focusing on innovation, market presence, and technology leadership in response to increasingly complex security needs for applications and APIs. WAAP solutions now integrate features from traditional web application firewalls with advanced tools for discovering and safeguarding applications and APIs. These solutions offer protection against automated threats and fraud, vulnerability and anomaly detection, and multi-layered Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) mitigation. The report highlights the F5 Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP) as a leader across several WAAP categories, emphasising its capability to address both detection and protection needs as application architectures evolve.
Osman Celik, a research analyst at KuppingerCole and author of the report, noted F5’s suitability for larger organisations, stating that “F5 WAAP is an excellent option for large enterprises looking for a WAAP solution.” Its versatility across deployment models and integration with major platforms make it a strong candidate for enterprises operating in complex, multi-cloud environments. KuppingerCole also observes that the role of WAAP is expanding, with a heightened focus on visibility, control, and threat detection. The increasing reliance on applications, often comprising hybrid, multi-cloud, and on-premises elements, has led to greater operational complexity and a wider potential for attacks. The report underscores F5’s proactive response through its Application Delivery and Security Platform, which provides WAAP capabilities designed to meet these evolving security requirements.
