Cube Cyber Launches Brisbane SOC to Enhance Local Cyber Defense Efforts
Cube Cyber has launched a new Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Brisbane, providing 24/7 cyber incident detection and response services to businesses across Australia. The centre was officially opened by The Hon. Steven Minnikin MP, Minister for Customer Services and Open Data and Minister for Small and Family Business. He highlighted the importance of enhancing Australia’s sovereign capacity in cyber defence and the critical role of such initiatives in protecting the digital operations of Australian organisations. The Brisbane-based SOC aims to bolster local incident response capabilities and reduce reliance on overseas cybersecurity providers. It offers continuous monitoring and response services powered by leading cybersecurity platforms, including SentinelOne, Netskope, and Illumio. These industry vendors facilitate Managed Detection and Response (MDR), incident triage, escalation, and support, all overseen by a local team of analysts and engineers.
Cube Cyber’s approach focuses on translating compliance-oriented response plans into effective operational capabilities. The company asserts that enterprises receive direct support from experienced professionals, utilising tools and frameworks designed for rapid threat detection and escalation. Andrew O’Shea, Co-Founder of Cube Cyber, stated that the SOC was not built merely to meet compliance requirements but to empower businesses and public sector agencies to respond with clarity, speed, and control when it matters most. The centre provides Australian organisations with direct access to a local team capable of early threat detection and swift issue escalation. Data from the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) indicates a growing threat landscape, with over 36,700 calls made to the Cybersecurity Hotline in the 2023-24 financial year, marking a 12 per cent increase from the previous year. Cube Cyber, founded in 2015, has evolved from providing security solution design to becoming a comprehensive cybersecurity partner for clients in Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and the UK, offering a range of managed services and professional consulting.
