CrowdStrike to Acquire Onum for Enhanced AI Data Integration in Falcon SIEM

CrowdStrike has announced its intention to acquire Onum, a company that specialises in real-time telemetry pipeline management. The integration of Onum’s technology into the Falcon Next-Gen SIEM platform aims to enhance CrowdStrike’s capabilities by providing a more robust data foundation for security and IT operations. This acquisition focuses on eliminating onboarding challenges and delivering autonomous threat detection capabilities. According to CrowdStrike, Onum’s platform processes security and observability data in real time, achieving up to five times more events per second than its nearest competitor. Additionally, Onum’s smart filtering technology is reported to reduce data storage costs by as much as 50 per cent, while its in-pipeline detection capabilities can decrease incident response times by up to 70 per cent.

The Falcon Next-Gen SIEM is described by CrowdStrike as the “engine that powers the modern SOC,” with data serving as the essential fuel for operations. George Kurtz, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CrowdStrike, emphasised the strategic importance of this acquisition, stating that Onum acts as both a pipeline and a filter, streaming high-quality, filtered data directly into the platform. This integration is expected to drive autonomous cybersecurity at scale, enabling customers to maintain control over their entire data ecosystem. Onum’s proprietary stateless, in-memory architecture enhances speed and scalability for onboarding to the Falcon Next-Gen SIEM, while also facilitating AI-powered detections from third-party data sources. The acquisition aims to address previous challenges related to data migration into new SIEM platforms, thereby reducing reliance on third-party tools.
