Commvault Launches New HyperScale Edge and Flex Solutions for Enhanced Cyber Resilience
Commvault has launched two new on-premises offerings, HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex, aimed at enhancing cyber resilience and data protection for enterprises managing diverse workloads. This introduction comes in response to a significant increase in cyberattacks targeting edge devices and remote locations. According to the 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, breaches involving edge devices and VPNs now account for 22% of incidents, marking an eightfold rise from the previous year. HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex are designed to provide customers with flexibility, performance, and resilience, regardless of their existing infrastructure. Both products are delivered as software images and can be deployed on validated hardware, thereby extending Commvault’s HyperScale portfolio, which includes the flagship HyperScale X scale-out integrated appliance.
HyperScale Edge is specifically tailored for remote sites, edge locations, and small to medium-sized businesses that may encounter space and IT resource constraints. These deployments are often found in retail stores, branch offices, and distribution centres. Customers can implement HyperScale Edge using validated hardware from partners such as Dell, HPE, and Lenovo. Lee Lindstrom, Principal Infrastructure Architect at Fortune Brands, noted that Commvault’s HyperScale Edge was instrumental in creating a cost-effective data management and cyber resilience solution across their data centres. HyperScale Flex, on the other hand, is designed to meet the demands of large, data-intensive, and artificial intelligence workloads prevalent in sectors like technology, telecom, and healthcare. It features a flexible architecture linked to external flash storage, supporting certified solutions from Pure Storage, VAST Data, and soon, HPE. This capability allows organisations to address the requirements of multi-petabyte capacities and performance-intensive applications, including those reliant on AI and machine learning.
