Coalition Initiates Incident Response Operations Across Australia
Coalition has established incident response capabilities in Australia and appointed Praneil Kumar to lead these operations. Praneil Kumar joins Coalition Incident Response (CIR) with over a decade of experience in security consulting, specialising in Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR), as well as Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). He previously worked at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, where he held various roles, most recently as Cyber Capabilities and R&D Manager. Kumar’s responsibilities included leading complex cybersecurity engagements across multiple sectors, both locally and internationally, while adapting BAE’s offerings to meet evolving customer needs and global industry trends. In his new position, Kumar expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to leverage his extensive cybersecurity experience to assist Australian policyholders, particularly businesses that are vital to the economy but often lack the resources to manage cyber incidents effectively.
CIR offers a range of services, including negotiation with threat actors, deployment of DFIR tools, and collaboration with other cybersecurity providers to mitigate financial and data losses for clients. In 2024, CIR managed over 700 global cases for Coalition policyholders, successfully addressing 56% of reported matters at no additional cost to them. Sam Weaver, General Manager of Coalition Australia, emphasised the company’s commitment to providing innovative Active Insurance solutions that protect businesses from evolving cyber threats. The establishment of dedicated representation in Australia ensures that all aspects of Coalition’s Active Insurance suite, including claims, incident response, and risk assessment, are accessible to local policyholders. This expansion includes recruitment in multiple cities, enhancing the availability of local cybersecurity expertise to effectively address vulnerabilities and support Australian businesses in navigating digital threats.
