Bridgestone, the tire industry leader, confirms that a cyberattack has affected its manufacturing operations.
Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire manufacturer, is currently investigating a cyberattack that has affected some of its manufacturing facilities in North America. The incident, which was reported on September 2, 2025, impacted two production sites in Aiken County, South Carolina, and a facility in Joliette, Quebec. Bridgestone Americas (BSA), the North American division of Bridgestone, confirmed that its rapid response contained the attack at an early stage, preventing any theft of customer data or significant network infiltration. BSA operates 50 production facilities and employs approximately 55,000 people, contributing to $12 billion in sales and $1.2 billion in operating profit in 2024.
In a statement to BleepingComputer, Bridgestone indicated that its team is working diligently to mitigate the impact of the cyber incident and minimise potential disruptions in the supply chain, which could lead to product shortages. The company emphasised that maintaining business continuity and protecting data remains its top priority. While forensic analysis is ongoing, Bridgestone expressed confidence that the incident was contained early and that no customer data or interfaces were compromised. As of now, there has been no clarification on whether the attack was ransomware, and no groups have claimed responsibility for the incident.
