ChatGPT has made its Projects feature available for free and introduced a toggle option to split chats for improved SEO.

ChatGPT is introducing two significant updates that enhance user experience. First, the Projects feature is now available for free to all users, including those on the free plan. This feature allows users to create dedicated “workspaces” within ChatGPT, enabling them to organise chats, files, and custom instructions tailored to specific projects. Previously, ChatGPT attempted to retain all information across conversations, which could lead to confusion when users wanted to focus on particular discussions. OpenAI asserts that Projects come with independent memory, context, and flexible tools, making them ideal for ongoing tasks such as writing, research, and planning.

Additionally, OpenAI has launched a new “Branch in New Chat” option, which allows users to create a new conversation that continues from a specific point in an existing chat. When users select this option, the new conversation retains all context up to the branching point, facilitating seamless transitions between related topics. This feature is particularly beneficial for brainstorming sessions and can be effectively utilised alongside Projects. With these enhancements, ChatGPT aims to provide a more organised and efficient platform for users to manage their discussions and projects.
