Jaguar Land Rover Shuts Down Systems After Cybersecurity Incident
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced that it is currently recovering from a significant cyber attack. The company reported that it was impacted by a cyber incident and took immediate action to mitigate its effects by proactively shutting down its systems. In a recent statement on its corporate website, JLR indicated that it is working diligently to restart its global applications in a controlled manner. At this point, there is no evidence that any customer data has been stolen, although the attack has severely disrupted its retail and production activities.
The breach was also disclosed in a regulatory filing to the Indian stock exchange on 1 September. JLR, which is owned by Tata Motors, has not provided details regarding the nature of the attack, nor has any hacking group claimed responsibility. This incident follows a previous cyber attack in March 2025, when a hacker claimed to have stolen several hundred internal files from the company. The hacker, known as Rey, stated that the leak included around 700 internal documents, such as development logs, tracking data, and source codes.
