AccuKnox Secures Patent for Enhanced Runtime Security of Kernel Events

AccuKnox, a leader in Zero Trust Kubernetes and cloud-native security solutions, has been awarded a patent (US Patent# 12,242,629) by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its innovative technology in Runtime Security of Kernel-Level Events. This breakthrough enables real-time detection, prevention, and remediation of anomalous kernel activity, significantly enhancing system security. The patented solution continuously monitors kernel-level events, correlates them with security rules, and automatically implements protective measures without compromising performance. This technology effectively addresses critical security vulnerabilities in cloud workloads, containers, and edge devices, assisting organisations in meeting stringent compliance and operational requirements.

The unique aspects of this innovation include highly efficient in-line, run-time security designed to thwart advanced zero-day attacks, such as ransomware and cryptominer threats. Key features of the patent encompass Enhanced eBPF Capabilities, which utilise the expanded instruction count in newer kernels (≥5.4) for improved in-kernel event aggregation. Additionally, it achieves Context Switch Reduction by performing in-kernel aggregation, reducing context switching by up to 80%. The technology also ensures Fidelity Preservation by aggregating events without sacrificing telemetry accuracy and employs Advanced Correlation to manage the spatial and temporal correlation of events for in-kernel decision-making. AccuKnox’s advancements in runtime security have been recognised by industry leaders, highlighting the company’s commitment to protecting modern workloads with unmatched speed and efficiency.
