Microsoft Examines Service Disruption Affecting Copilot and Office.com
Microsoft is currently investigating a significant issue affecting users across North America, preventing access to Office.com and the Copilot AI-powered assistant. Reports on DownDetector indicate that this disruption began nearly two hours ago, leading to server connection problems and login difficulties for some users. The impact appears to be concentrated in North America, although Microsoft is still assessing the full extent of the issue. In a service alert published on the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, the company stated that it is collecting telemetry data to identify the root cause of the outage and is working to reproduce the issue for further diagnostics.
While the outage persists, customers can still access Copilot through alternative methods, including copilot.microsoft.com and Microsoft 365 applications like Microsoft Teams and Office Apps. This incident has been classified as a critical service issue, tracked under MO1138499 in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, indicating noticeable user impact. Additionally, Microsoft has provided a workaround for a known issue causing “couldn’t connect” errors in Microsoft Teams. This follows a previous incident two months ago that affected Microsoft 365 authentication features in the Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and Asia Pacific (APAC) regions. This situation is still developing.
