Google Introduces Enhanced AI and Cloud Security Features at Security Summit

At the Cloud Security Summit 2025, Google unveiled a comprehensive suite of updates designed to enhance AI innovation security and bolster enterprise defences. The announcements included new protections for AI agents, advanced tools for Security Operations Centres, improvements in cloud security, and extended safeguards for enterprise browsing. New dashboards in Google Security Operations showcased the seamless integration of SOAR data. AI security was a focal point, with the introduction of new capabilities for Google Agentspace and Agent Builder. These updates featured an expanded AI agent inventory, risk identification, advanced in-line protection, posture controls, and proactive threat detection and management. Naveed Makhani, Product Lead for Security AI at Google Cloud, articulated the aim of these safeguards to balance flexibility and control, emphasising the importance of making secure paths easy without compromising developer flexibility.

Google also elaborated on its vision for the Agentic SOC, a system where AI agents collaborate to automate triage, investigation, and response. A new alert investigation agent, currently in preview, is capable of enriching events, analysing command-line inputs, and constructing process trees using methodologies derived from Mandiant’s frontline analysts. Payal Chakravarty, Director of Product Management for Google Security Operations, noted that this approach is intended to transform how human analysts allocate their time. The Agentic SOC is designed for various use cases, primarily alert triage, investigation, and response, followed by detection engineering and threat hunting. Additionally, Google introduced new features in its broader cloud security portfolio, including updates to the Security Command Center, which now features Compliance Manager, Data Security Posture Management, and Risk Reports. These enhancements aim to streamline compliance and highlight emerging threats, while advancements in identity and access management include an IAM role picker powered by Gemini and agentic IAM for auto-provisioning agent identities.
