Orca Security Attains IRAP PROTECTED Certification for the Australian Cloud Industry

Orca Security has successfully completed the Australian Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment at the PROTECTED classification level for its Orca Cloud Security Platform. This achievement enables Australian public sector organisations to access enhanced cloud security capabilities. The IRAP assessment, overseen by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), ensures that technology providers managing sensitive government data adhere to the security protocols outlined in the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM). Independent assessments verify the appropriateness and effectiveness of a system’s security controls, with results documented in a Security Assessment Report (IRAP report) to assist agencies in determining the best solutions for their needs. Orca Security collaborated with Tesserent, an approved IRAP assessor and auditing partner, currently part of Thales Cybersecurity Services ANZ, to complete the assessment.

Avi Shua, Chief Innovation Officer and Co-founder of Orca Security, stated that this accreditation affirms the platform’s capability to safeguard Australia’s most sensitive cloud environments. The accomplishment underscores Orca’s commitment to protecting critical government data in Australia and its broader mission to support public sector organisations globally with cloud security excellence. This IRAP accreditation follows a recent authorisation under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) in the United States, emphasising Orca’s compliance with rigorous international security standards required in public sector environments. The Australian government’s 2023-2030 Cyber Security Strategy aims to improve national cyber resilience against escalating cybercrime threats, fostering trust in digital products and ensuring government agencies can safely leverage emerging technologies. Orca Security’s platform offers an agentless solution to cloud security, utilising SideScanning technology for rapid asset inventory and risk assessment across various public cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and Kubernetes.
